Jasmine Dress
By Amy and Chloe
I was over the moon to win one of the beautiful dresses from cornflowerblue ORGANIC for my daughter Chloe. The designs are all so stunning I would have been thrilled with any of the options available. When the package arrived, Chloe and I opened it together - she was so excited about her new dress she wanted to put it on straight away.

The dress is a stunning colour and the quality is fantastic - it is beautifully finished and even lined with a second layer of cotton.

There is a gorgeous cotton lace/damask detail just above the hem line which is the same hue as the rest of the dress and adds that little something special.

The neck line is my favourite feature - I love yoked necklines on children, and my girls have a few tops made like this. At first I was slightly concerned about getting her head in and out as there are no buttons and the ties are fixed. I soon discovered that this fabulous design infact had taken that into account - and one of the ties was only fixed on the outside - allowing it to open wider when untied - you really did think of everything.

The fabric falls beautifully, and the fit is perfect too. I would definitely purchase this dress!

Ondine Dress
By Elizabeth and Tiana

Design:
Do you like the design?
Elizabeth: The first thing that caught my attention was the gorgeous colour.  A definitely eye attracting, soft, feminine colour. Next was the adjustable straps, I so need this with Tiana and its amazing how many don't have them. The shirred back was a hit, allowing the room and give and there is always something special about shirring.  Having a lined dress of such high quality fabric appeals, as does the softness of the cotton.

It appeared not to be restrictive as well and looks "easy wearing" and very "pretty in it". I know if Tiana feels comfortable in clothes, it portrays in her facial expressions, body language and how long she will wear it.  This was easy... she walked about... popped up the decorations for Christmas, played the piano, read books and played. Knowing its organic is a definite pleaser for me as I am passionate about organic and natural fibres. As my website supports Australian and New Zealand designers in baby and kids fashion, knowing its Australian designed was a hit.

Tiana:  I love the colour and I like the white flowers scattered. I have a dress with flowers all on the bottom and looks weird I think.  This is better. I could walk around easy, but it was great when I was sitting down and when I read my book on the floor. It was easy to move in. I liked the little blue cornflower tag on the dress - gorgeous logo.
Fabric:
Does the fabric feel good and does it appear to be of high quality?
Elizabeth: Definitely high quality. Soft, silky and light. Easy wearing for a summers day. I like the fact it has a soft lining.. straight away that tells me that these people who make it/designed it are fussy and its of a higher quality.

Tiana: I liked wearing it. It was soft and smooth and not scratchy.  I liked the feel of the dress when I was walking

Sizing:
Did the dress fit your daughter well? Was it too big or two small? If it didn't fit well please describe your daughter's shape and where it needs adjusting.
Elizabeth:  I would say its slightly generous which is good thing.  There is nothing worse than small sizes!  The fact that there are adjustable straps is good, so she will get plenty of wear from it. length wise was
about right...

Tiana:  Fits ok I didn't like the zip.  would be a bit better a little shorter though mum didn't think soWashability:
Did the dress wash well?
Elizabeth: Washed well by hand, didn't know what perborate was (lol) so had me looking it up!! I thought the white motives may not wash up easily, but they seemed ok,  the hardest thing was ironing the underskirt as well as the dress... but I hate ironing at the best of times.  Washing instructions were clear and easy to read. Good sized print too.

Value:
The white Annabel dress and the Blue and White Ondine dress are priced at $74.95 and the Blue Jasmine Dress is priced at $59.95. Do these prices represent good value? What price would you be prepared to pay for them?
Price point is good for the quality garment and the fact it is organic too.  The dress is extremely well made, quality fabric and lined.  There is so much out there that is higher priced-end and less quality.

Ondine Dress

Design:
Do you like the design?
yes!!! absolutely!  I was really pleased with such an original design arriving in the post. It's cheerful, innocent and the sort of style that's impressive without looking too dressed up. Nina has worn it with thongs and it looks great, but equally as good with her 'pretty shoes'. The colour is striking, and finally, NOT PINK!

Fabric:
Does the fabric feel good and does it appear to be of high quality?
The cotton fabric really suits the design of the dress. I would agree that it looks like a good quality garment, there were no hanging or loose threads, or what I commonly see on cheaper cotton dresses, uneven hems or linings. I like that the dress has the cotton look and feel to it, as it's a bit of a subtle statement about where it's come ... a good place.

Sizing:

Nina is reasonably tall with long legs, but I think a fairly average weight. The dress fitted well, apart from around the chest where it was a little firm, which means the arms are also slightly fitted, but not enough to bother her. I don't know what will happen if she has a growth spurt, I might let it out a bit! I am also not sure if it was the fact that the chest was so fitted, but the top couple of centimeters of the zipper come down. Plenty of length though.

Did the dress wash well?
I have washed the dress twice. The first time on a gentle cycle with my delicates ... fine. Second time with cherry stains (we have a tree and nina is a bit of a fruit bat) so the dress also withstood a normal wash (cherry stains gone) and rambling through the roses to get to the cherries (ok I wasn't home and my husband wasn't paying attention!) Both times hung on the hills hoist, and in the heat dried in time overnight to wear the next day. Today the dress didn't make it to the wash it was taken from the laundry basket and worn again dirty! The little doilies have held up really well, I was worried how they would wash, but they are secure and once pressed sit nice and flat and not too fluffy.

At first I would say no, especially adding postage. It would have to be a very special treat. But having had one to test, and realising the durability and the absolute charm of the dress (did I mention how many people smiled at her when she wore it to visit her grandpa at hospital), I would definitely go back to her another. I am a bit different to most people I know where choices are cost driven, my priority lies with where a product is made, who has made it and how and what impact it has on the planet my kids will inherit. I believe it reflects the true cost of making a garment. So if a product will last due to being better quality then the choice is easy. I would rather have a couple of well chosen things and wash alot, than a stack of made in china stuff that falls apart in half a season.

Sales Tag:
Did you notice the sales tag? Did you read it?
Yes I did notice the tag. My 5 year old son took it off fairly quickly but I still got a chance to read it. I don't know why, but I thought you might have more info on it. I think that was more because I just wanted to know more about what you do again even though I read about you on your www. ok I like your stuff!

This is a lovely dress.  I was delighted by the colour, a really gorgeous blue.  I think it's even prettier than it is in the photos.

Fabric:
Does the fabric feel good and does it appear to be of high quality?
The fabric is soft and comfy and definitely looks and feels like good quality fabric.  The lace is a very pretty touch.  I do like the design.  It looked lovely on my daughter.  I must admit this is not a style I would usually choose simply because I'm very conscious of the effects of the sun on my daughter's lily white skin!  I generally avoid anything sleeveless.  That said, I popped a little white tee under it and it still looked gorgeous.

Sizing:
Did the dress fit your daughter well? Was it too big or two small? If it didn't fit well please describe your daughter's shape and where it needs adjusting.

I'm happy with the sizing.  It was a little long on my daughter who is only just 2 and has a very small build, but the ties make it very adjustable and it fit very well at the top.  Eve will be able to wear this dress for a long time as it is so adjustable and the smock style fit will mean she can still wear it as she grows.

Washability:
Did the dress wash well?
I obviously haven't washed it many times, but it has come up well when I have.

As a single income family our budget is fairly tight and the price is more than I would pay for clothes for the children.  I do however, value the fact this is an organic dress that has been manufactured in a fair trade manner.  I also appreciate very much the values of cornflower blue towards the environment and in looking after people.  In this regard I think it does represent pretty good value especially given the dress won't be grown out of too quickly.  I don't think I would buy this dress at full price but it's the kind of item I would buy when it was on sale.   I think I would look at buying an item from cornflower blue as a special outfit rather than buying lots of separate pieces.

I did notice and read the sales tag.  I have been impressed by what I have read about cornflower blue and was interested to read more.
